How many Tiles will i need?

A few points to remember when measurin in order to purchase the correct amount of tiles.

Measurements

There can be significant variations in batches so always calculate and buy the quantity you need in the first place and check that each box has the same batch number. Some tile companies will allow you to take back unused boxes for a refund or small handling fee,but please check first
Always allow a further 5% for wastage, 10% if tiles are to be fixed diagonally.
Any design, decor or border tiles incorporated will reduce the quantity of plain tiles required. Be sure to allow for this in your calculations.

When Measuring

Measure each wall / floor area individually and add the totals together.
Measure the height and the width / length and breath and multiply the two to calculate the square area.
Window recesses, alcoves, bath sides and boxings should be calculated separately.
Remember to reduce your calculations to allow for the door(s), window(s), fixture(s), bath and fixed unit areas.
Don't forget 5% for wastage or 10% for wastage if fixing diagonally.
Below is a chart showing you a rough guiide as to how many individual tile you will need ,dependant on the tiles particular size.
Eg: if you have 6 sqYards of tiling to be done and your tiles measure 6"x6" you will require 216 tiles PLUS 5% Wastage which is another 11 tiles roughly ,this gives you a total of around 227 tiles.
